Recruitment of INET-SSR(Medical) in the Navy is application based, wherein applications from eligible candidates from all over India are accepted through the web based portal on www.joinindiannavy.gov.in only. The recruitment for INET-SSR(Medical) is carried out in a stage wise manner, with different stages comprising of Computer Based Examination (INET), Written Examination, Physical Fitness Test and Medical Examination. The specific details of the selection process is brought out in the recruitment notification for the concerned batch, which is published in the 'Employment News' and Indian Navy's official website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in
The various entries, for recruitment of sailors in the Indian Navy, are as follows:-
- INET-SSR(Medical) (Senior Secondary Recruit)
You are not eligible to apply SSR(Medical).10+2 passed with Physics, Chemistry and Biology is required to apply SSR(Medical).
INET-SSR(Medical) is open for Male and Female candidates between the age of 17½ to 21 years who have qualified in 10+2 examination with Physics , Chemistry and Biology from the Boards of School Education recognised by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
INET SSR(Medical) The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type. The question paper will comprise of four sections i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General Awareness. The standard of the question paper will be that of 10+2 level and the syllabus for the examination is available on website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in . Duration of examination will be one hour.
Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is mandatory for selection. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk. PFT standard for male & female candidates are as follows:-

The Selection Procedure is as follows: -
- The advertisement for a particular INET-SSR(Medical) Entry is published in Employment News and Indian Navy’s official website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in
- Application will be received only through online mode. Application received by post will not be entertained.
- Call up Letters cum Admit Card for examination would be required to be downloaded from the official website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in before examination. Only Electronic mode of communication will be used while contacting the candidates and no documents would be sent by post at any stage of recruitment. Examination centre cannot be changed once allotted by the Indian Navy.
- INET. All India computer based examination- INET would be conduct for Shortlisting of candidates. Shortlisting would be based on marks obtained in the Indian Naval Entrance Test, in accordance with the criteria laid down in the recruitment advertisement.
- Stage II (Written Exam, PFT & Initial Medical). Candidates who have been shortlisted in INET examination (computer based online examination) will be issued call-up letter for Stage II comprising of Written examination, PFT and Initial Medicals Examination. Stage II, will be conducted in the designated Indian Navy’s examination centres.
- Final Recruitment Medicals . Recruitment Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be conducted at INS Chilka. Candidates who are found medically unfit will be advised to appeal against its findings, if they so desire, at INHS Nivarini/ INHS Kalyani within a maximum period of 21 days. No further review/ appeal is permissible.
- The original documents uploaded by the candidates during online filling of application viz Original Certificates, Mark Sheets, Domicile Certificate and NCC Certificate (if held) are to be brought by the candidates at all stages of recruitment. If the details provided in 'online application' are not matching with original documents at any stage, the candidature will be cancelled.
- Enrolment will be subject to Fitness in Initial Medical Examination during Stage II and Final Recruitment Medical Examination at INS Chilka. Medical fitness certificate issued by any Hospital other than the specified hospitals will not be considered. No further review / appeal is permissible.
- The select list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all respects depending upon the available vacancies in accordance with the criteria published in the Recruitment Notification of the concerned batch. The select list of the candidates will be uploaded on the Indian Navy's official website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in and candidates' individual login dashboard. All candidates whose names appear in the Select list would be required to report to INS Chilka. However, enrolment will be subject to clearing Final Recruitment Medical Examination at INS Chilka.
- The candidature of candidates selected is valid for the current batch only.
- Offer of enrolment will be forwarded only to merit selected candidates. Unsuccessful candidates will not be intimated separately.
An examination fee of Rs. 550/- (Rupees Five hundred fifty only) plus 18% GST has to be paid by candidate during the online application through online mode by using net banking or by using Visa/ Master/ RuPay Credit/ Debit Card/ UPI. Admit card will be issued for the examination only to those candidates who have successfully paid the examination fee and who are entitled to waiver of examination fee.
- Note: (a) Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
- (b) Candidates found to have registered multiple times would be rejected and debarred from the examination. Re-imbursement of exam fee would not be carried out in such cases.
- (c) In case you have made an online payment of fees and money has been deducted from your account without admit card being generated with Payment status as "Payment not completed" (ie unsuccessful payment), please contact helpdesk.
Centre Allocation for INET (online examination) will be at the discretion of the Indian Navy.
You might not have received the call letter due to any of the following reasons:-
- Application incorrectly filled.
- Application not shortlisted.
- Application rejected view not uploading the required documents.
There is no provision for another chance once a candidate is rejected after Recruitment / Appeal Medicals at Chilka / Kalyani.
You should have the original certificate of 10th qulaification, 12th mark sheet and Pass certificate, Domicile certificate and NCC certificate (if in possession) and all other documents in original which have been uploaded by you during filing the online application form. Safety of documents would be the responsibility of the individual candidate, the Indian Navy will not be responsible for safe keeping of your documents.
The Recruitment for the Indian Navy has migrated to an application-based process, wherein online applications are invited from eligible youth across the country through an advertisement and recruitment is carried out at designated centres across the country.
Recruitment rallies are not undertaken by the Indian Navy.
The selection of a candidate will stand cancelled and he will have no claim for enrolment in the Indian Navy in case the candidate fails to report on the date and time mentioned in call letter for Recruitment Medical Examination at INS Chilka as well as for review medical during appeal also.
Candidates holding NCC 'A'/ 'B'/ 'C' certificates are eligible for the following benefits:-
- The NCC candidates are to be given additional marks (in percentage) during the Stage II – Written exam. The additional marks are to be added to the marks obtained in the Stage II – written examination, for preparation of merit list, as follows:-
- NCC 'C' Certificate Holders --- 6%
- NCC 'B' Certificate Holders --- 4%
- NCC 'A' Certificate Holders --- 2%
- 04% additional marks over and above the marks will be awarded in the Stage II – Written exam, to all candidates who have been members of the Republic Day Contingent/ Camp.
- Note: - All candidates holding NCC certificates shall be required to compulsorily appear in the all-India Computer Based Examination (INET), to be eligible for consideration of the stage-II of the recruitment process.
